Re: Tow Vehicle Question

Post by pawpaw » September 8th, 2017, 11:32 am

I tow my travel trailer (about 9,800 lbs) with my 2014 1/2 ton Sierra with the tow package and 6.2 liter gas engine, without any problems at all. My DW and I have dragged the TT for over 13,000 miles all through the flatlands and mountains and the truck does very well. I get an average of about 9 MPG overall while towing and I usually tow at a max of 65 MPH. Hope this helps.
Happy camping!

Tow Vehicle Question

Post by Variation63 » September 7th, 2017, 8:01 pm

I recently purchased a Launch Ultra Lite 24RLS and have been towing with a 2006 Yukon XL 6.0L. Living in California this vehicle just isn't cutting it when towing uphill into the Sierras. I'm looking at a 2016/2017 F150 or Chevy 1500 and would like to hear from anyone towing the Launch with these trucks. How do they perform? Would you recommend them for this size trailer (GVWR - 6,250 lds). I will be using the new truck as an everyday family vehicle and don't want to jump to a 250/2500 if I don't have to but I also don't want to worry about speed and transmission temp when pulling uphill. Any feedback is appreciated.
