Sweet.

To solve the same indoor problem of a left handed cook, we run a 2 foot (or so) power strip across the top of the kitchen window valance. That gives us electric outlets near the stove.

I am pondering adding a new 20 amp outlet outside on a separate circuit. Locate it directly opposite the circuit panel.

Added 120 VAC outlet above sink

Post by moallen » July 13th, 2016, 4:59 pm

My wife likes to sit our coffee maker on the metal cover over the kitchen range to the left of the sink, but all the outlets are to the right of the sink and too far away. I can't imagine why Starcraft didn't include an outlet to the left of the sink. Anyway, that was my project yesterday.

Tracing out the wiring proved something I already suspected. The outside outlet is the last one on this line. The line first goes to entertainment center and bedroom outlets, then to the GFI outlet in the bathroom, which then feeds the kitchen outlets and finally the outside outlet. The kitchen and outside outlets are protected by the GFI in the bathroom.

The outside outlet was the 7th one on that 14 gauge line, all through push on connections not screws. That outside outlet should definitely not be used for anything with a heating element, like an electric grill, etc.

I could have run the wire to my new kit outlet from the outside outlet (the backside of which is accessible under the kit sink) but decided to do it a little differently and safer, in my opinion. So, I ran a new line from the AC breaker panel to the outside outlet and then up to my new kit outlet shown in the picture. I used residential style screw down outlets. The new kit outlet is fed by a new GFI outside outlet. Now the outside outlet is only 3' of wire away from the breaker box and the new kit outlet another 4'.
