I like the idea of keeping them in place with plastic ties. Actually, I've had the normal spring type roll forward when stepping close to the front edge. Almost caused an accident.

Great job though. Probably saved a bit of money.

Don't buy the honky strap on expensive step rug. I got the grassworx doormat, trimmed and zip tied to the steps.
