MDDRUDGE, you stated that you added a power vent to your Satellite, did you replace the factory vent with a powered one or add a fan to the factory vent? In either case, did you find a power connection already there or have to run power to it?
partsbob,

I know this is an old thread, but I am sorry that I never answered your question, but I did not see it until just now. Guess my post notifications went to Junk Mail folder.

Anyway, better late than never :D I see you pulled power from exactly the same place that I did. Great minds think alike as they say. I just got back from another week in my 17RB last night. Spent a total of about 8 weeks in it so far and still enjoying it. Definitely want/need a bigger TT, but I other priorities at the moment.

Stay safe!

To update my last post after finally receiving one undamaged, and to help others installing one of the Vortex II upgrade, on my Satellite it was my wife who noticed the roof vent crank mechanism has 2 locations on the fan housing, with my vent requiring moving the crank mechanism to the outside position to mate with the fan. There’s nothing on the box to note this and no instructions inside the box, which makes it a pain to hold the connected fan up at the ceiling while you switch the crank mechanism to the other location.
Anyway, it’s completed now and I like having the forward/reverse option to help in the seasons we enjoy in the mountains and to stop the smoke alarm from going off every time we cook inside!

For anyone else with a 17RB wishing to change the non-powered vent to a powered, I found the simplest way to get power to the vent is to fish a wire to the overhead cabinet above the dinette and tie into the circuit at the power-awning switch, rather than trying to get to the bathroom light at the rear of the camper. After pulling off the vent trim, fishing a stiff wire along the right-front corner of the vent between the roof support and the insulation, you can cut a small hole just inside the overhead cabinet ceiling to pull your wiring inside and over to the cavity at the end, where you’ll find a white and black/white wire providing constant 12v power to the awning. The awning switch has enough wiring behind it that you can pull it away from the cabinet end to work with the wiring.
Unfortunately the Vortex II upgrade fan I ordered came in with the switch split open and the tiny spring & ball somewhere loose in the box. Gotta love how these packages get thrown around the delivery trucks!

JJMJ, my wife & I purchased a new 2018 17RB as well last October and, as you’ll see under the Satellite Owners posts on here, we love ours as our 3rd TT purchased in just the last few years and have camped in it 6 days before putting it away for the Winter. This is actually the largest TT of the last 3 we’ve owned (a 1971 vintage 13’ Scotty and a 2012 Jayco 15’ Swift), but since it's just us and a mini-Schnauzer enjoying it, it’s perfect in so many ways where the other 2 fell short.
As noted in our other post, it’s not been without some headaches, but all have been resolved now and we’ve very anxious to do a lot of traveling with it this year as the perfect size for our tow-vehicle. We traveled over 6 hours to pick it up and, although the dealership experience was horrible, it was still worth the trip for the savings of this left-over model and how well we love the design & features of the Satellite, even over the R-Pods and Hummingbirds we saw before this purchase. We love how Starcraft made use of many small storage cabinet areas that the other 2 chose to leave blocked off, especially with the lack of storage in these small TT’s, but also because love it for so many new technologies included in the Satellite that are extra cost in other similar sized campers: like the larger frig, convection micro, external rear LP quick-connect and the WiFi booster that come standard, not to mention the power-awning! I’ve made my share of “enhancements” to ours already and, as soon as my knee replacement has healed, I have others scheduled as soon as I get back on my feet.

I just purchased the 17RB in August 2018 in Bartow. Took one 10 day trip in it in November up north. I chose it cauced I like the layout the bect of other light weight TTs. I needed something light enough that I could pull it with my V6 Kia Sorento until I get a new truck.

So far I like it a lot. Getting ready to take me second trip in a couple weeks. I mounted a TV, added a power vent fan, divided the under bed storage into 2 sections (one accessible from outside the other from under the bed.), and mounted a grill bracket on the rear bumper. I have a couple other minor mods I plan to do soon.

It is just me using it so there is plenty of room. Everything seems to work as intended and I am satisfied with the quality, so far, for the price. I paid about $15K for mine which was the last 2018 17RB they had.
