I had similar problem with my 2008 Starcraft 14RT OFF-ROAD camper.

Mine weak floor was due to water getting in under the closed access door. The bottom weather seal was going bad...

I replaced the seal with something I found at LOWES

I also looked under the trailer in that area and could not see any problems. I did add some 2-inch metal angles under the OMB flooring between two metal floor frames to beef up the floor strength there. It doesn't seem spongy anymore after doing that.

I added some 2x2 carpet stick -on flooring a few years back after the office threw away a whole bunch of them at work. They still had sticky on their bottom... I cut and trimmed the whole floor with DARK BLUE CARPET SQUARES and then put down GREEN CARPET SQUARES on the bed ends wood floor. Really helped out cutting down on cold drafts. Didn't do to well on tracking in dead leaves however...

It shouldn't be too tough to pull the cabinet if necessary. They are typically just screwed down.

That is what I will do. I think I can get at the floor around that area from the top.

Anybody tried to go in from the bottom just to investigate?

My concern is that the soft floor extends under the cabinet work, and a repair will require pulling it all out to fix.

I also wonder if the floor is salvageable.

If you have a soft spot, i would start to peel back the flooring at that location.

Out may be salvageable.

Then try to isolate the leak for repair before repairing the floor.

10RT Soft Floor

Post by camper79 » January 12th, 2015, 12:08 am

Before putting our pop-up camper away for the winter we started to notice a soft spot in the floor that appears to be growing.

The spot is right in front of the frdge. Which is weird, because if you would think there was a rpevious sink leak it would be more towards the bunk.

What are the chances that the floor is rotting from the bottom?

There is no indication of water or damage on the linoleum.
